What is the role of a nurse practitioner (NP)?

The nurse practitioner (NP) is a nurse who has acquired clinical experience in primary care and completed advanced graduate-level university training in nursing and medical sciences. They manage common health problems and chronic conditions that do not require specialized care. Their role aims to improve access to primary care, in collaboration with physicians and other members of the care team.

Can fees be reimbursed through private insurance?

Medical consultations in a private clinic are not usually covered by private insurance. As coverage may vary from one plan to another, we recommend checking directly with your insurer. Eligible medical fees can generally be included on your income tax return under the medical expense tax credit. A receipt will be provided for this purpose.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. Omny was founded in part to provide simpler access to healthcare, particularly for individuals who do not have a family physician. Whether you choose a membership or a pay-per-visit consultation, we will be pleased to welcome you and help guide you toward the type of appointment best suited to your needs.

Can I consult a physician or an NP without holding an Omny membership?

Yes. You don't need a membership to see a physician or an NP at Omny. Pay-per-visit services remain available to everyone, but members benefit from preferential pricing on most services.

What are the benefits of an Omny membership?

An Omny membership gives you access to care from a family physician and a nurse practitioner, who ensure the overall coordination of your care and follow-up on your file over time. It also allows you to enjoy preferential rates on the majority of services. Depending on the plan chosen, your family can also benefit from these advantages.

What is the difference between a standard consultation, a complex consultation, and a health assessment?

Standard consultation: This is a consultation with a physician or an NP for a single health concern, or for follow-up after an initial consultation. This type of consultation typically addresses a one-time concern, follow-up of an already assessed condition, a minor urgent issue, an injury, or an acute pain. Complex consultation: This is a consultation with a physician or an NP for a complex health issue, or for the assessment of two to three health concerns during the same appointment. Examples include menopause, gynecological conditions, suturing, abscess drainage, pediatric developmental follow-up, or an initial mental health assessment. It may also involve other clinical situations requiring a more in-depth evaluation, such as cognitive concerns or the completion of complex medical forms. Health assessment: This is a consultation with a physician or an NP for a comprehensive health assessment. This consultation includes an overall evaluation of your health status, as well as follow-up of chronic conditions requiring annual medication renewal. It also includes recommended screenings based on your age and risk factors (diabetes, cholesterol, hypertension, osteoporosis, and cancers), as well as a review of your vaccination status.
